The 2011 edition of the EBGI Position Paper was released in November 2011 at the residence of the Ambassador of Poland, New Delhi by visiting senior officials from Poland.
The document termed, Position Paper (PP), draws from the experience of both members and outside experts. It aims to address the hurdles facing industrial development in several key areas of interest to European Business. It is by no means exhaustive. The purpose of this document is to enable the EBG to express the views of its members on some key aspects of the business environment in India that have a direct bearing on the development of favourable relationships between the European, and the Indian business communities. The paper gives an overview of the difficulties that various sectors are facing and focuses on areas where progress is being possibly stymied.
When the Tax committee of International Bar Association (IBA) invited me to join the panel titled 'The Bear hug, or will tax payers and tax administration soon be sharing the same bed ', I was kind of foxed with the choice of topic. On enquiry, I was informed that due to an overwhelming response to the same topic in the spring meeting of IBA/IFA/OECD in Paris, IBA was repeating the show at its annual meeting in Dubai last fortnight which hosts the largest gathering of lawyers from varied fields.
