ABOUT EUROPEAN BUSINESS GROUP IN INDIA (EBGI) 

The European Business Group, launched in September 1997 by the then Ambassador, Mr. M.B. McGeever, EC Delegation in India, was chaired by Mrs. E. Margaret King of Banque Paribas till the summer of 1998, when Mr. Luc Martin of Thomson-CSF took over. Mr. David I Hudson MBE, Regional President, Group 4 Securicor has been Chairman since January 2000.

The European Business Group, based in New Delhi, acts as a focal point for individuals, who pursue business in India on behalf of European Union business interests. It is also intended that European Business Group will complement and reinforce the activities of other European Business Groups and diplomatic representations.

The European Business Group in India provides a platform for European Business to meet, exchange views and make representation on behalf of the members to Government. The European Business Group in India receives valuable support from the European Commission.

To act as a Forum for European Business

  • Influence the business environment to:
    • Increase bilateral trade between India & the EU
    • Improve the invest climate
  • Improve business and social relationships

The prime objectives:

  • The protection and the development of European Union business interests in and with India.
  • The enhancement of warm and effective relationship, based on mutual interest, between the European Union and India.

It is guided by a Council, membership of which is open to all European Business Group members, through an application electoral process. "Currently the group has more than 250 members represented by approximately 130 companies as of 31-March-2008."
