Eligibility Criteria for EBGI Membership and the Council members:
Eligibility is as per the following:
- A company with operations in any of the EU Memberstates or in the EFTA countries (Switzerland, Iceland & Liechtenstein) with a permanent establishment in India (subsidiary, joint venture with a controlling stake, liaison office, branch office, project office) can become a corporate member and nominate up to 3 representatives to EBGI.
- An Indian company which has as a European partner (from any of the EU Member States or in the EFTA countries) as a strategic share holder with a substantial interest in the company can nominate up to 3 representatives to EBGI.
- A company promoted by an individual or a group of individuals with nationality of any of the EU Member states can nominate 1 representative at EBGI.
Associate Members :
Eligibility of Associate Members of EBGI as per the following:
- An Indian Company having substantial business relationship with companies in the EU can nominate 1 representative to EBGI.
- Any individual who has excelled in the field of business or culture or literary related to the EU or who has a special relationship with EU can become an Associate Member.
- All requests for Associate Membership will be subject to the approval by the EBGI Council.
Honorary Members:
- Heads of Mission and Ambassadors of EU and EFTA Countries in India.
- Commercial counselors of EU and EFTA missions in India.
The EBGI Council has the right to refuse membership in case the applicant is perceived as not suitable for the EBGI.
Eligibility for Member of the Council :
- EBGI Council is normally elected through an election process among the Members every two years. The Council can co-opt upto 3 members, who could be also an Associate Member.
- The Commercial Counselor of the European Mission in India is a permanent member of the Council.
